Senator Larry Butler P.C.
PROFILE:
Larry was elected to Séanad Éireann on the 27th July, 2007 through the Industrial and Commercial Panel. Later, Senator Butler was appointed spokesperson for Drugs Strategy and Community Affairs, Housing and Urban Renewal.
Larry previously had served on Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for over 16 years representing the Ballybrack (1999 - 2007) and Glencullen (1991 - 1999) Local Electoral Area's (LEA's).
Larry lives in Foxrock with his wife Kathleen and their children. He was first elected to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in 1991 to represent the Glencullen Ward. Following the re-drawing of constituency boundaries he subsequently contested the election and was successful in his bid to represent the Ballybrack LEA in 1999 when he topped the poll. He was once again successful in the 2004 Local Elections.
A former Cathaoirleach of the County Council, Larry was re-elected as the Fianna Fáíl Group Leader by the Party’s Councillors in July 2004. He has served on numerous committees and boards during his tenure in public office and was up until recently the Chairman of the Culture, Community Development and Amenities Special Policy Committee (S.P.C.).
