Dún Laoghaire area receives 1.4million for Disabled Persons & Essential Repairs Grants

The Government has allocated funding of €1.4million for Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants for Private Houses in the Dún Laoghaire area.

The grants, provided by the Government and administered by our local Council, are designed to give Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and other local authorities flexibility in addressing the particular housing needs of disabled and elderly persons.

This is just one part of the Government's ongoing efforts to address the needs of the most vulnerable people in our community. We are determined to guarantee that the funding made available under these schemes reaches those most in need of assistance. A review of these two schemes is soon to conclude, and is designed to ensure that this happens.

Significantly, in addition to these Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants, funding of €17 million is being made available nationwide under the Special Housing Aid for the Elderly Scheme (SHAE) this year. This will enable even further progress in addressing the accommodation needs of elderly persons.
